The Real Dodger Inside

If you love it then share it

The Real Dodger Inside

A lot of my blogs tells the life of our Dodger’s negative side. Well, this is not one of them. You have to look for the positives where ever you can, even if they are fleeting, these are the moments that get you through. Unlike some severely Autistic people, our Dodger enjoys a cuddle and little tickle (when her Autism is allowing her to be her) every now and then. (I would just like to share something about me here quickly which Angela laughed at me about. I have always written Tiggle not Tickle,in my head my way is correct). Dodger seeks us out when she is able, to interact with us, and over the past few years looking us in the eyes for a few chosen moments, those lovely blue eyes with a flick of black in one. When they say the eyes are an window to the soul, this is definitely the case with our Dodger. You get to see a glimpse of what she would be like if it wasn’t for this bastard disability that Autism is.

Dodger loves her movies

Dodger gets great joy from her movies, and favourite scenes which she will repeat over and over, she often wants to share these moments with us. Getting us to repeat lines and actions she finds funny. These are endearing moments we also take out of the house, she can often be found acting out a scene. Recently, Angela and Dodger was in the frozen fish aisle in the supermarket, while Angela was taking something out one of the freezers, she turned to see Dodger with her arms out wide flailing around shouting “Its The Shark Slayer”, this is part of a scene from the movie Shark Tale which she likes. There were some shoppers around at that time with looks on their faces thinking that Dodger was nuts.

The Right Spot

You can hear her laughing sometimes, in a full on belly laugh but without making any noise except the sound of the actual movement. These are great times to interact with her, with tickles and cuddles. Angela particularly hurts for that sweet spot that has Dodger chuckling so hard that you need to know when to stop.

Back Seat Driver

Angela does all the driving around of Dodger from place to place. You have heard of the backseat driver, well, Dodger is one of them. Oh No, Oh No. .Dickhead. Woooaaah  are the main comments heard from the back seat.

Such comic delivery

When Dodger is out and about, she often repeats/mimics conversations of
passers-by. Most of the time it is done in such a way that it sounds like she is mocking them. This had lead to occasions where we have had looks of confusion from people and nearly having to explain about Dodger. This of course is embarrassing but so funny, and when you look at Dodger afterwards, you can see her with a cheeky smile giggling away. Thank you for reading this, I hope this has shown that sometimes we do get “The Real Dodger” moments that we love.

Good Luck
Matthew
